Grammy Award-Winner, Wizkid has achieved another feat with his 2020 hit song, “Essence” featuring Tems.
The nostalgic bop makes history as it gets certified quadruple platinum in the United States of America (USA) for sales of over 4 million units.
According to Wikipedia, the platinum certification was introduced in 1976 for the sale of one million units for albums and two million for singles.
Recall that Essence is a song off Wizkid worldwide hit album “Made In Lagos” which was released in October 2020.
In 2020, Wizkid achieved a historic milestone as the first African artist to attain Gold certification in the United States, marking the sale of 500,000 units of his hit single “Come Closer.”
Alao, Wizkid song with Canadian rapper Drake dubbed “One Dance” is 8times platinum in the USA for the sale of over 8 million units.
Other Nigerian artistes that followed Wizkid in the list include Rema, Burna Boy and Tems
